Chocolate Orange Peanut Butter Balls, Box Bites by Kursheed Dustagheer!

Hello my name is Kursheed and I like to snack.  Well not so much I like to as I need to.  Prior to CrossFit I would have got about 3-4 hours out of a meal but now it's more like two.  Thank you metabolic conditioning!  In order to stay away from chocolate and crisps I have had to branch out.  These energey balls (courtesy of bbcgoodfood) are just perfect.  I take them into work and have them as my midmorning snack or else I sometimes have them to fill a hole in my tooth before training.  As they're quite sweet they also make an appearance after dinner to calm down the pudding cravings, and the best thing is, they are super quick to make - 20 min max!  Hope you guys enjoy making and eating them!! 🙂

Chocolate Orange Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut butter balls

100g pitted Medjool dates

100g pecan nuts

50g pumpkin seeds

50g rolled oats

4 tbsp cacao powder

2 heaped tbsp crunchy peanut butter.  Mmm, peanut butter.

Zest of 1 orange

2 tbsp orange juice + a little extra

Place all the ingredients in a food processor and press go!  Blitz until all binds together.  Add some orange juice if needed.  Using lightly oiled hands roll into bitesize balls.  Place in the fridge for half an hour.... Et voila!

A few ideas that I also thought might work:  Replace some of the orange juice with honey to make them extra sweet.  Throw in some chopped dark chocolate/ coco nibs for some added texture.  The original recipe called for almond butter so I reckon any nut butter would work too!!
